Milwaukee, Blessed Savior
Blessed Savior parish is comprised of four merged parishes: Corpus Christi, St. Philip Neri, Our Lady of Sorrows, and Mary, Queen of Martyrs. The newly formed Blessed Savior parish is located on the site of the former Corpus Christi parish, renovated to incorporate elements from all four parishes. The inaugural Mass for the new parish was celebrated on July 1, 2007 by the first pastor, Fr. Gregg Chycinski. Following the retirement of Fr. Gregg, Fr. Romanus Nwaru was appointed administrator in 2016 and the second pastor of Blessed Savior parish in 2017.
The new parish operated one school with four campuses, each located on the site of the merged parishes. In preparation for a proposed takeover of the school by the Seton School System, the parish was compelled to sell the North campus in 2019. The former rectory is being utilized for residence and counseling services for the less privileged and the convent building is being used by the St. Vincent de Paul Society as a food pantry serving the neighborhood. Likewise, the former rectory and convent at the Mary, Queen of Martyr’s site are used for residence and counseling services for the less privileged. As the neighborhood continues to evolve, the parish remains an endearing presence in the Northwest area of Milwaukee driven by the gospel message of discipleship, stewardship, and evangelization.
