After the collapse of the Cathedral roof in the fire of 1935, substantial restoration efforts were undertaken to rebuild the damage done to the structure. For almost 80 years, the roof has held strong against the elements, lasting far beyond the typical life expectancy. Once again the time has come to take significant steps to preserve the building’s exterior. Through pledges made to the Love One Another Campaign here at the Cathedral, we seek to raise upwards of $500,000 towards the total cost.
This is a challenging task, which has required much foresight and preparation. Through research and professional estimates, the total cost will likely be upwards of $1.3 million. As we are the Cathedral serving all parishioners of the Archdiocese, an additional $1 million in funds will come from the Campaign Trust to support our efforts and cover the remaining costs of replacing the roof.
