West Bend, Holy Angels
Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

Holy Angels, West Bend

Our Parish Roots:

In 1851, West Bend Catholics bought two city lots for $15 and built the first Church building by 1852. Originally called Mary, Mother of Sorrows, the Parish was named Holy Angels to avoid confusion when Fr. Casper Rehrl built St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception in Barton.

Since then, Holy Angels continued to grow with a new church built in 1866. In 1913, the congregations began plans to build the current Parish building. The cornerstone ceremony for the Parish building took place on August 9, 1914 and was consecrated by Archbishop Meismer on June 20, 1915.

Holy Angels remains a vibrant Catholic environment with over 1,600 families involved at the Parish, signaling a bright future for Catholics in the greater West Bend community and beyond.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning, and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to support our cemetery grounds upkeep, church exterior upgrades, and worship space renovations.

  CEMETERY GROUNDS - $509,913

We will continue to address short-and-long-term priorities at our cemetery grounds. The focus will include replacing existing roads, razing the garage building, and moving it to a new location to make more space for burial plots. We will also build a Columbaria to extend the life of our cemetery.

  EXTERIOR UPGRADES - $200,000

The current church roof was installed in 1987 and it needs to be replaced. We also hope to replace and update the sign in front of church on 8th Ave as it is presently in serious disrepair. These replacements and upgrades to the roof and sign will help modernize our
campus and provide a safe place of worship for years to come.

  WORSHIP SPACE RENOVATIONS - $300,000

Renovations will include painting the worship space, replacing existing flooring, varnishing the pews, cleaning the reredos, (altar piece above the tabernacle), along with routine maintenance. We will also renovate the former Adoration Chapel and create a new space for the church sacristy. All upgrades are oriented towards enhancing parishioners’ overall worship experience.
