Our Parish Roots

St. Elizabeth Parish was formed in the year 2000 from the merger of the old St. George Parish and St. Casimir Parish. The two parishes bring over one hundred and fifty years of rich history, with St. George Parish founded in 1845 by German immigrants and St. Casimir founded in 1901 by Polish immigrants. To our knowledge, it is the only parish in Christendom dedicated to the mother of St. John the Baptist.

Due to our ideal location in Downtown Kenosha, St. James and St. Elizabeth cooperate and share a pastor and staff under the title: Downtown Kenosha Catholic. Our appreciation of tradition appeals to both new parishioners and long-time members. We attract people from all walks of life who are hungry for reverence and authentic Catholicism: young or old, life-long Catholic or curiously seeking, Kenosha native or visitor to the area. The Catholic faith in Kenosha began downtown, and it continues through our Downtown Kenosha parishes.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used for capital improvements, establishment of a restricted fund for future maintenance repairs and the creation of new faith formation opportunities for parents and families as well as new members.
