St. Adalbert, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots:

St. Adalbert’s congregation was incorporated in spring 1908 in response to a growing Polish Roman Catholic community. The school soon followed and was laid on August 30, 1908. Due to school enrollment growing rapidly, it became clear a new church and school would need to be built. On April 23, 1931, the cornerstone for the new church was completed and blessed. The church became well known throughout the Milwaukee area for its beautiful stained-glass windows and belfry tower that reaches 132 feet into the air. Today, our Hispanic Community makes up the majority of parishioners and continues to serve God, our neighborhoods, and our city. Together, our parish and school form a vibrant expression of what it means to be a loving and praying faith community.

  Campus Improvements - $530,041

We have been blessed with a beautiful school facility and parish office. Providing our students, a safe place to learn and our staff, the capacity to serve our families and parishioners. For the safety of the students, faculty, staff, and all who access the building asbestos abatement is needed. Additionally, the funds raised will be used to give attention to various aspects in need after many years of use and operation: the floors are worn and in need of new tiles or carpeting to provide a more welcoming environment, the HVAC system requires maintenance and upkeep to keep the building comfortable and operational throughout the year, and doors need replacement to enable proper security.

  Rectory Acquisition Fund - $200,000

Divine Mercy will be investing in the acquisition of a rectory, providing a permanent residence for all current and future clergy. Our parish is passionate about continuing the tradition of mentoring new priests and seminarians. Designated housing and administrative space affords the opportunity to welcome associate priests for many years to come.

  Mission & Ministerial Growth - $100,000

To nurture our investment in the future of Divine Mercy Parish and School, the remaining funds will be used to continue the growth of our mission and ministries. Hymnals need updating to provide a more fluid worship experience. We aim to progress our community impact through outreach efforts with Habitat for Humanity, the South Milwaukee Human Concerns Food Bank, and assistance to homeless ministries to provide food and shelter to those in need. Funds will also enrich tuition assistance that is vital to providing affordable Catholic education for students.
