Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. Anthony of Padua, Kenosha

Our Parish Roots:

SJETL Risen ChristMost of what we know about the founding of St. Anthony’s Church has been passed by word of mouth from the first founding families that came as immigrants to Kenosha in the 1890’s. Many of the descendants of these first families are still members of St. Anthony’s Congregation.

The first of several Slovak pastors, Reverend Victor Blahunka, was appointed by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 1912. The presence of their own pastor inspired the support of the Slovak families and encouraged contribution to the Church Fund. In less than a year, at the cost of $8,000, the first Church was completed.

Planning for the new church began several years later and on June 29, 1930, the Feast of Ss. Peter and Paul, the new church (an edifice in the modern Gothic style) was blessed and dedicated as the center of our parish.

  RENOVATING OUR KITCHEN - $100,000

We plan to fully update the kitchen so that it is completely operational for our fellowship and ministry work. This will allow the parish to have more events like the pasta dinner, receptions, and serve the larger community through outreach and feeding the hungry.

  REMODELING OUR GYMNASIUM - $45,249

By funding this project, St. Anthony of Padua will be able to provide a welcoming place for the community to gather for physical activities, games, meetings, fellowship, and more. We plan to update the gym, stage, and sound system so that they can be utilized by youth sports teams and fine arts performances for our Catholic Schools here in Kenosha.
