Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Burlington

Our Parish Roots:

SJETL Risen Christ

By the year 1908, Burlington's Catholic population was outgrowing its sixty-seven-year-old home, St. Mary's congregation. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Sebastian G. Messmer, envisioned founding a second parish in Burlington to accommodate the increasing spiritual needs of the Catholic community. Between March and September of that year, a parish formation committee was established, parish lines were designated, German and English were declared "official" parish languages, the congregation was placed under the patronage of St. Charles Borromeo, and St. Charles was incorporated on August 23, 1908.

Now, for over 110 years, our parish family has gathered in prayer at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. We continue to be a community unified in the Eucharist by the love and mercy of Christ. As His ambassadors, we seek to love, serve, and educate one another and the world around us, with a joy that radiates the light of Jesus Christ.

With the help of the Holy Spirit, our faith community will continue to grow. Our parish members and school graduates continue to carry on the traditions of our Catholic Faith and founders. Their service to the parish, school, and community and generous and caring attitudes ensures a strong future for St. Charles Parish and School.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning, and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used to restore the interior of the church, address building repairs in the parish center, convent, church classrooms, and activity center, resurface the church parking lot, and further service faith with expanded Adult Formation opportunities, evangelization efforts, and retreats and mission trips.

  CHURCH RESTORATION - $215,000

Since the completion of the church building in 1910, we have expanded, renovated, and updated our campus to accommodate the needs of our growing community and everchanging world. As good stewards of our historic home, we are again called to restore the interior of the church. This campaign provides an opportunity to install a speaker system in the worship space, repaint the interior, and address other necessary repairs.

BUILDING AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE - $270,000

Keeping a safe and functional environment to worship and learn requires that we prioritize the maintenance of our buildings and grounds. Through this campaign, we will replace the Parish Center and Convent roofs, install new windows in the Parish Center, Convent, and church classrooms, update the Activity Center’s HVAC system, and resurface the church parking lot. Undertaking these projects will ensure that our parish family is protected for decades to come.

  FURTHER SERVICE FAITH - $50,358

The service of faith is one of the cornerstones of both this campaign and our parish. We will dedicate a portion of the raised funds to expand Adult Formation opportunities, bolster evangelization efforts, and sponsor retreats and mission trips.
