St. Peter, Slinger

Our Parish Roots

In 1856 a small log cabin church was built in Schleisingerville, WI, and was named St. Peter’s. Why? Because Slinger (the name was officially shortened in 1921) was a village then made up of seven hills; our founders wanted their decendants to know that their church and rock-solid faith were here to stay! Initially, a “mission church” served by priests from many of the surrounding towns, until growth required that a rectory was built. In 1892 a much larger church was needed and built for $19,300. In 1992, Slinger’s slow, steady growth became more rapid; the church received redecoration, repair, and some expansion, but it was clear more was needed. In order to prepare for a future on the horizon, major expansion was envisioned; additions to available parking were made and after much research and study, major church expansion and renovation was proposed and begun in 2016, preserving all the beauty of the 1892 church. It now serves over 1,320 families with 3,760 individuals as well as many visitors who enjoy our lively worship and community.

  Building and Grounds - $250,000

We are blessed to have such a beautiful place of worship for our community of faith. However, we are obliged to be good caretakers of our spiritual home. As such, there are several areas that require our attention. Primary projects that we hope to undertake include:

• Fixing the roof of St. Clare Hall

• Fixing the school roof

• Repairing and improving our cemetery.

  Parish Finances - $308,145

It is important to look after the financial health of our parish. We want to ensure that the generations to come can enjoy the same comforts that we have been so blessed with. In order to guarantee the future prosperity of our parish, we need to pay back our endowment. We will use a share of our funds to put future generations of our parish in a strong financial position.

  Mission and Ministry - $200,000

At the forefront of our mission as Catholics is to do good work and support our communities. We are excited to establish scholarships for secondary education as well as scholarships to support the seminary. In this endeavor, we hope to foster a greater community of strength in our area to benefit the generations to come.
