Love One Another Capital Campaign 2021

St. John XXIII Congregation, Port Washington

Our Parish Roots:

St. John XXIII Congregation was dedicated on July 1, 2016 as a result of merging three parishes and a school together: Immaculate Conception, St. Mary’s, St. Peter of Alcantara, and Port Catholic School.
Our parish history dates to the mid-19th century when Catholic settlers arrived in the Port Washington/Saukville area. Immaculate Conception Parish in Saukville originated in 1847, and two years later St. Mary’s Parish in Port Washington followed suit. Membership in these two parishes grew steadily over time, necessitating the creation of a third parish - St. Peter of Alcantara, also in Port Washington, in 1966.
All of the ministries formed over the years at Immaculate Conception, St. Mary’s, and St. Peter have served as the foundation of our faith and worship as they bring spiritual life to St. John XXIII. Our parish has become a gathering place for more than 1,600 families, affording a rich and diverse parish life for all Catholics in Port Washington, Saukville, and surrounding areas.

  Parish Debt Reduction- $1,033,547

Our parish embarked on the Gather and Grow campaign five years ago to renovate and expand our St. Peter of Alcantara church and school building. This campaign allowed our pre K-8 grade school to be housed in one site, strengthened our liturgy and Catholic religious education, and enhanced our meeting spaces.
St. John XXIII received over $4,000,000 from our parish families to cover the costs of these projects. Our parish took a loan to cover the remaining costs. Currently, the parish owes $1,400,000 towards the Gather and Grow Campaign.
Reducing our debt will allow our parish to manintain its financial strength and allow our ministries to grow in line with our mission,
priorities, and assets.
