St. Paul, Milwaukee

Our Parish Roots:

The first parish Mass was celebrated on Christmas Day, 1919, in the Pio Nono High School chapel by its founding pastor, Fr Francis Zynda. He erected a barracks style church on the current property in 1920. A decade later, Fr Francis Zuchola dedicated a more permanent church and school. As the parish rapidly grew, the school expanded to eight classrooms and gym/cafeteria in 1959.
A new Gregorian Colonial-style church building on Norwich Ave. was completed and dedicated November 25, 1973 during the pastorate of Fr Gerard Wilczewski. Fr. William Wallaik completed a parish office area connecting the church and rectory nine years later. At one point, priests of the LaSallette order staffed the parish until it was returned to the Archdiocese in 2002.
From that point on, a parish director and various priests shepherded the congregation, including Frs Romanus Nwaru and Arul Ponnaiyan from 2006 - 2019. Father Carmelo accepted the invitation to become pastor in 2019. St Paul is a part of a family of three South Shore churches that continues to serve God, their neighborhoods, and the wider Milwaukee area.

Our Share

Through much prayer, planning, and conversation, we have identified our greatest needs and initiatives to strengthen our mission and vision for years to come. Our share of the funds raised will be used  to make interior upgrades to our church, as well as build a new gathering and meeting spae by renovating the parish office.

  Interior Upgrades

We have been blessed with a beautiful church that helps us to connect to God and one another through the sacred celebrations carried out within. In order to preserve, beautify, and continue gathering, we must address current interior needs. Planned upgrades include new paint to the church interior, caring for our wood beams, and upgrading the church lighting.

  New Gathering Space

St. Paul plans to create a new gathering and meeting space for parishioners and the community alike by renovating the former parish
office. A new gathering space positions us for growth, fosters an increased sense of community, and creates an additional space where our parish family can grow in faith and fellowship.
